'VOICES BRASS AND ALL THAT JAZZ'

Date: Saturday 29th May 2010

Venue: Eastbourne's Town Hall

and a superb evening of musical entertainment!

This was the verdict following the event  kindly sponsored by the Mrs A Lacy-Tate Trust and the Roy Hudson Trust and raising in excess of £700 to  totally benefit the St Wilfred's Hospice appeal.

A superb and stirring performance by The City of Peterborough Concert Band was enjoyed as they visited Eastbourne as part of their Spring tour. Their repertoire included music from 'Oliver' and many other favourites.  In addition the audience listened to the nostalgic harmonies of the Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir producing an evening to remember with 'Autumn leaves' and 'The American trilogy'. The band and choir performed many items together and particularly enjoyed by the audience was the joint finale of 'Sussex by the Sea'

Tickets held by the appreciative audience enabled them to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of tea served up by Lions members and their partners during the interval.

The evening concluded with comprehensive thanks from the Mayor of Eastbourne Councillor Caroline Heap and Lion President Nigel Windibank to the performers together with a presentation by the Mayor to the main concert organiser, Lion Graham Parish, as he leaves Eastbourne for a new home in Lincolnshire.
