 SPLASH FOR CASH!

The Club held its Annual Swimathon at the Sovereign Centre Pool on Saturday 26th September and raised over £1200 for good causes.

The event was first introduced to our club in 1992 and this year among those taking part, were the Hailsham Trefoil Guild, the Friends of the Samaritans, 6th Eastbourne Girls Brigade, Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards and the Tuberous Sclerosis Association.

Beginners and proficient swimmers alike use the event to raise money through sponsorships with the money raised split equally between the swimmers cause or charity and Lions charities.

We will shortly be presenting two trophies, the first is awarded to the team raising the most sponsorship money. The second will go to the individual raising the most money through sponsorship.

NIgel Windibank President of the Eastbourne Lions Club said "I would like to thank the teams for taking part, the Eastbourne Leisure Trust for providing the venue and Frank Patterson and his team of Voluntary Lifeguards for overseeing the safety of the swimmers. This was a very successful and enjoyable event".
