WHY NOT LET THE LIONS HELP YOU RAISE MONEY FOR YOUR FAVOURITE CHARITY OR WORTHY CAUSE?
Once again plans are being made to hold our annual
SWIMATHON
that will provide people in the Eastbourne area an opportunity to raise money for their chosen charity or worthy cause.
The date will be - OCTOBER 16th 2010 (during the evening)
The venue - THE SOVEREIGN CENTRE SWIMMING POOL, EASTBOURNE.
First introduced to our club in 1992 the event attracts beginners and proficient swimmers alike with a mixture of Teams and Individuals taking part. Participants swim as many lengths of the 25 metre pool as possible in 20 minutes having previously obtained sponsorship for each length. The money raised is subsequently split with 70% to the swimmers cause or charity and 30% to Eastbourne Lions charities.
Following the event we hold an presentation evening when TROPHIES are awarded to:
(1) The TEAM raising the most sponsorship money
(2) The INDIVIDUAL raising the most money through sponsorship and
(3) The TEAM with the highest average per swimmer sponsorship money. (Minimum 4 in a team)
We very much appreciate the assistance of the Eastbourne Voluntary Lifeguards for overseeing the safety of the swimmers and also our gratitude to the Eastbourne Leisure Trust for providing the venue.
